Getting Started with the iPad

New to iPad? Come join us for an introduction to getting the most of out of your iPad.

In this 90 minute session we’ll cover:

Using the on screen keyboard, including editing tools like cut, copy, paste, and undo.
Connecting to wireless networks
Installation of the LAUSD Root SSL Certificate
Connecting to your LAUSD.net e-mail account
Presenting with the iPad and your VGA projector •Apple’s Free “Find my iPad” service
Using Apple’s Safari Web Browser •Recording Video with iPad

This seminar will be delivered at no cost but seats are limited to register, go to LAUSD’s Learning Zone: http://lz.lausd.net and log in with your Single sign-On information.

Select EdTech under PROGRAM and click SEARCH
Locate and click on “Getting Started with iPad”
Click on the orange ENROLL NOW button

Save Me a Spot in College

Dear Staff,

For your information during the month of June, Gage has had 2 major events to assist students in college and career planning: 6/8 assembly on A-G requirements and 6/14 College Fair Sponsored by ACA and Magnet. The next step is to have Gr. 8 students register on line at the CaliforniaColleges.edu website for the "Save Me a Spot for College" pledge. This process will be completed with the science teachers. If you are interested in looking at this website, instructions are available for download below.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Due to the continuous fiscal situation facing the State and our schools, the District determined to shorten the 2010 –2011 school year by five instructional days. Therefore, it is extremely important for your child to attend school every day. We ask that you pay close attention to the information listed below:

Friday, February 11 –Minimum day for C Track only; dismissal at 12:21 p.m. (Regular day for B Track.)
Monday, February 21 - Presidents’ Day Holiday; NO SCHOOL
Tuesday, February 22 – 25 - C Track Teacher Furlough Days; NO SCHOOL for C Track Students and Staff Only.
Tuesday, May 3 – Last day of school for Track C students and staff - minimum day for C Track only; dismissal at 12:21 p.m. (Furlough Day for Track B; NO SCHOOL.)

AVID is Recruiting for Next Year's AVID Classes!

Do you have an interest in attending college? Want help improving your grades and test scores? Well, AVID might be the elective class for you. We are starting to recruit eligible 6th and 7th grade students to join us for next year. Eligible students have basic to proficient test scores, a 2.0-3.5 GPA (mostly B's and C's) and have a real determination to do well in school, improve and learn the skills needed to be ready for college, and be ready to have some fun during group work and field trips! In order to get more information, please bring your parents to the Student/Parent Informational on January 25th, 2011 from 4:00-5:30pm in the Gage MS MPR. The first application for the program will be given out there and will be due by February 11th, 2011.
