For this project you will be investigating a story at Gage Middle School or in the immediate community. You may choose to cover any story you like, but before you begin videotaping you will need to write a proposal and discuss the ethics of producing your story.

You need to know your responsibilities as a journalist. The Society of Professional Journalists has published a code of ethics on their web site. Below is a summary:
- Seek Truth and Report It
Journalists should be honest, fair and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.
- Minimize Harm
Ethical journalists treat sources, subjects and colleagues as human beings deserving of respect.
- Act Independently
Journalists should be free of obligation to any interest other than the public's right to know.
- Be Accountable
Journalists are accountable to their readers, listeners, viewers and each other.
- Choose a story to investigate about something that has happened, is happening or will happen at Gage Middle School. Avoid scandals, gossip and rumors.
- Download the "Investigation Proposal" form below, and write a proposal to produce an investigative report and includes answers to the questions.
